IE Javascript Nonsense

Can anyone please explain how in the world I'm supposed to debug javascript with Internet Explorer?! Does anyone actually know what the "Line" and "Char" are supposed to refer to? As far as I can tell, they certainly don't refer to any line and character in my code. If you know how to make some sense out of the IE error messages, please clue me in.
