Movies On Location
For those of you that missed this on SlashDot, This is one of the coolest ideas I've seen in a long time. A movie theater / brew house called The Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, Texas is hitting the road to put on The 2005 Rolling Roadshow Tour.
In 2005, the Alamo is setting out on a 6000 mile, 21 day journey, across the west for a series of film screenings that will take the movie-going experience to a whole new level. We will be screening 12 famous films in their original shooting locations, chosen specifically to intensify the viewing experience.
They've actually got a 20' by 40' inflatable movie screen that they're going to be hauling around the country. I would love to take a trip up to Astoria, Oregon to see The Goonies!
Of course, the people at Alamo have also come up with what seems like a monumentally bad idea. I can only hope that just the coast of California will sink into the ocean, and leave the rest of us in the Central Valley with beach front property.
